wow thanks ovo_j. it was natural for us to think that madara's bro offered his eyes to madara since there was no mention of a struggle. what itachi mentioned was the clan's common knowledge that the brothers were equal in strength and in skills (386p5). madara was at a disadvantage since he was already blind when he took his brother's eyes (386p7). so how could he won over his younger brother just that easily?

anyway, my comments about the new chapter 399. (1) there was no mention of madara killing his own brother to gain permanent MS, though it was implied in that statement that the brother sacrificed his life (p5); so does that mean that the brother allowed himself also to be killed by madara? (2) why would the uchihas betray their leader madara? was there no truth at all in their claim that madara was greedy for power that he even killed his own brother (p9)? surely they know madara's true nature from the many years they've fought together. (3) madara has not mentioned yet that itachi was his student. if he did, then why is it that itachi did not know his "real" story? there are a lot of essential points in madara's testimony that contradicts itachi's story. now, between itachi and madara, who do you think sasuke will believe?

i think it was madara again who summoned the Kyuubi 16 yrs ago; believing that madara is already dead, Konoha would naturally be suspicious of the Uchihas since it was only an Uchiha who could summon and control the Kyuubi. Madara took advantage of his "death." It was a strategy of "divide and conquer"--an implosion within konohagakure. it was a clever and evil scheme to destroy konoha from within. To create a break in that alliace between the senju and the uchiha and make them kill each other. It was his plan that the Uchihas stage a coup d'etat. Itachi's mission, if indeed he was a spy, was to know who sent the Kyuubi to Konoha. And true enough he found that Madara is still alive; his next mission was therefore to become Madara's disciple in order to discover his weakness; if there is none, then discover how to surpass him. but there is no way he could be destroyed. Itachi has seen that Madara is an invincible immortal (385p17). He had to know the secret to madara's powers; and when he knew, he had no choice but to follow in his footsteps. he killed his own best friend and was made to follow madara's orders to help him execute his vengeance on the very clan that he and his brother sacrificed their lives for but betrayed them instead.

Hey Melo Longtyme! hope its all good in yr neck of our wooded planet lol, your last comment refers to the play on words by the writer Kishi that is, so i believe both stories by itachi and madara are true to a large extent. my take on this is...... knowing full well that he was limited by time itachis version as given by madara was to force him into the same error as madara ie. killing his best friend which ultimately leads to loss of sight and probably death, madara only gave itachi piece meal info on the mangyekou cos he knew itachi worked for the Konoha Advisors, which is why he needed his brothers eyes to upgrade to ems but itachi only got the shock of his life when the next time he confronted kakashi with ms he guessed there had to be another way to achieve ms and ems and its probably likely that eyes forcefully taken may not lead to ems but something else...... i wont be surprised if the eyes of the uchihas is actually their life force as those who sacrificed their eyes didnt necessarily have to be killed????

yes Tix, sasuke has 2 choices, come back to village and forget all about his clan's destiny, or take revenge the later seems more and more inevitable...

@ melo, little by little I'm going to believe that madara isn't as bad and tainted as we'd thought before he has been leader and he just has tried to gain the best for his subordinates

@ 507 Its impossible for both stories to be entirely true, they contradict one another. And no one has mentioned the biggest contradiction of all, in madara’s story he says he would do anything to protect the Uchiha clan and that is why he did the things he did. But in itachi’s story madara was the one who helped kill the entire Uchiha clan. ??? so who’s telling the truth, and whos lieing . …. Madara’s story is a lie to a certain degree, and both itachi and madara are deceiving sasuke to accomplish there own goals. Madara said he wanted to protect Uchiha and return their supremacy, but at the same time he was the one who helped itachi to kill the Uchiha clan. (He has admitted to helping itachi himself) And Itachi would do anything for the village, even kill his own family and friends. Its more likely that itachi only said the things he did to sasuke for the good of the village. He wanted sasuke to finish his job, which was to kill madara and stop the destruction of the village. I don’t really see what Madara’s true goal can be, but to not let his brother’s sacrifice be in vein, plus to kill and take revenge on his rivals the senju. And hes only telling sasuke these things to get sasuke to finish his goal which is to destroy the village.

@ 495 don’t start saying crap like that, 1st off naruto already has a clan and its not senju, second the guy you speak of whos standing in the front is the second hokage. And lastly jiraiya and the 4 th arent related and I don’t believe either of them are from senju clan. Don’t confuse the senju clan with members of the leaf village. Just because your in the leaf village doesn’t mean you must be from either Uchiha or Senju.

I believe Madara still lies and deceives. Obviously, when that is revealed will be when sasuke betrays madara in a brilliant finale, but still. And I agree T9TW, Jiraiya isnt from Senju, and Naruto doesnt have white hair lol. The only one that can actually be said to be of senju decent is Tsunade, and technically Yamato (Since his genes match up)

(retyping) found it! in 398p11, madara said, "it's true, (itachi) killed the entire clan that night... and left konoha." and continued, in p12, "and he did it all on orders from konoha... that's the gateway to the truth about him." nowhere did he say that he was an accomplice to the massacre. all throughout madara's history lesson, he was on the side of his beloved Uchiha clan, even if it betrayed him and the supposed "sacrifice" of his brother. of course, we know this is all BS. how can Madara claim he knows everything there is to know about itachi? how did he get the info from the three elders and the 3rd, and itachi? he himself said that it is impossible that anyone of them would divulge this, and itachi did no trust him, but he still was able to know. so how did he get the info? he is contradicting himself. unless he got it from danzou... this is the only possibility since danzou is the only guy in that group that we can consider dubious enough to have plans of destroying konoha. jiraiya himself warned tsunade about him and his intentions. we know also that he had connections with another enemy of konoha, orochimaru. so it is likely that madara got his inside info from danzou, but could it be true? it is more probable though that madara is just making this all up by himself. he claims that he does not have proof, because he really has none. here he is correct indeed, no one can prove the veracity of his claims-- it is impossible because they're all lies.

I meant both stories are versions of the same story that carry some aspects of the truth as story telling is a manipulative way of passing information... its all in the way u tell it..... madara is definitely a bad bellied avenging crackhead or else he would have no need to obtain all the bijou using the hoax that akatsuki is.... i wonder if he's able to see the future and in anticipating the future strength of naruto needs the other 8 bijou to face naruto... i remember he warned pein that naruto had some new jutsu!!! while i am doubtful that madara would be omniscient since he relies on zetsu for his "videographic" memory.it is possible that he could have danzou manipulated as well by some spell or genjutsu, just like what the akatsuki (sasori) did to his spies in sunagakure and to kabuto. but if danzou gave sai a mission to kill sasuke, and madara obviously has a need for sasuke, we can say that danzou and madara have conflicting plans.so they couldn't be in league with each other.

contd. going back to madara's history lesson. we can therefore maintain at least that madara's claims as to knowing all there is to know about itachi, specifically his "mission" of killing all the uchihas, is a blatant and manipulative lie. madara, from his own testimony, has all the motives to kill all the uchihas; (1) to avenge himself, and to get back at them for their betrayal; (2) my theory: killing the whole clan has a purpose very much related to upgrading one's own sharingan powers. remember itachi mentioned something about "testing his capacity." i surmise the clan massacre was a sacrifice to the demon spirit of the sharingan so it could grant higher powers to the MS user. why would madara be interested in the outcome of the fight between itachi and sasuke; and now he's trying to win sasuke to his favor? i think it is all for his ultimate goal to get all the uchiha powers/capacity to possess the true power of the sharingan. at least we can assume now that madara wants sasuke's eyes,too.

i wonder what madara would say when sasuke asks him, "what do you want with me?" madara's testimony categorically made him and itachi enemies, but why were they in the same organization?

We've already done the danzou-Madara connection. With Madara's spacetime jutsu, it wouldn't be a problem. Danzou conceals his right eye socket, while that is all Madara uses. They both hate the first, and wanted to become leader. Danzou controls Root, Madara controls akatsuki. Yup yup yup.

there is this buzzing theory that all of the 5 hokages are senjus, since madara said the senjus dominated over the uchihas in leading konoha. does that mean that sarutobi, minato -- and naruto -- are also senju???

it's obvious that sarutobi is a senju, but naruto's father isn't , cuz in that case naruto become familiar to Tsunade, but we know that before Jiraya introduces naruto to Tsunade, she didn't know naruto

@522 melo you went one chapter to far, I should really post where im getting my info from instead of just posting it, so sry about that. In my earlier comment (He has admitted to helping itachi himself) I was referring to chapter 397 pg 15-16 “You asked Itachi yourself about the person who helped him that night. It was me Uchiha Madara” That night, is obviously referring to the night of the massacre if the Uchiha clan. So yes Madara has already admitted to being itachi’s accomplice, itachi isnt strong enough to take on the entire Uchiha clan by himself. And this is where the confusion comes in, it doesn’t make much sense for Madara to help kill the clan. Unless he did it to save itachi’s life or gain itachi’s trust and get him to join akatsuki.

he was 1st's pupil, why "first" should take some one from another clan as his student and his future surrogate,when they're rival with other clans?

arch why would you think sarutobi is a senja? I know he was a student of the 1st/2nd ..... but it cant be just because of that.

They all belong to one village wheres the harm in taking another student of a different clan as a pupil. It would have been suspicious if he only took senju clan members under his wing. And i dont belive they get to chose which students they want as pupils.

I know was just using an example ..... cause I cant really see any other reason for him to do it. He was suppose to be there leader, even if he was betrayed by them, his vengeance should only be towards the senju and not his own clan or the rest of the village.

well 9tail, I know that we never hear from anyone about sarutobi's origin but it dosn't seem reasonable take another clan's member as your student when they're your close rivals

but about naruto I'm pretty sure he's not senju, as I told before, Jiraya was the one who itroduces him to Tsonade. Tsunade is a senju (first's granddaughter) then if naruto was senju too they should knew each other at that time somehow

@ 543 you are correct, 9TW! :) though i maintain that it does make sense that madara would kill the whole clan, since he wants to get back at them for betraying him, choosing hashirama, and "not acknowledging/wasting the sacrifices" he and his brother did for the clan. madara has all the motivations to annihilate the clan, it is itachi who seem not to have a clear motive why he would-- "to test my capacity/container"? what does that supposed to mean, for sure, madara is leading sasuke away from the story of the uchiha's quest for power. madara is telling sasuke that the clan massacre has nothing to do with the sharingan, while itachi very much implies it. it is because the spotlight will turn on him and burn him to reveal the truth of how dark his heart really is.

ArchAngel3 the only rivals to senju were Uchiha they have nothing against other clans ............ so theres nothing wrong with the 1st having a student from another clan as long as its not Uchiha. Plus it was the senju who wanted to have peace with the Uchihas

hmm why are people so hushed about naruto's lineage? i presume there are many dark secrets to this as well. he was not even surnamed as namikaze like his father. why are the konoha people hiding this from him? what is so "mysterious" about the lineage of the yondaime?

in this case we've child without any particular father, well, lets call the one who performs the jutsu nominally child's father. so this is why naruto dont carry his so-called father's surname

it was clear in j-man's story that minato and kushina were a couple and she was already pregnant by that time. that is before the kyuubi's attack on konoha. so naruto was already born when the sacrifice happened-- the sealing of the kyuubi inside naruto and the taking of yondaime's soul into the gut of the shinigami/deathgod

where that was mentionet minato is peragnent? the only thing we know is that they'd wanted to name their child as naruto, but it hasn't pointed if she ad been peragnent at that time

although from gaara's story we knows that his mather didn't want her baby, just seems gaara was forced-born child as a necessity to perform the sealing jutsu
