Itachi did want sasukes eyes. The only reason why he couldnt take them was because he was dying as he was going for them so there would be no point in plucking sasukes eyes out. He flicked him on the head so sasuke believes that itachi was good and his close friend thus resulting in sasuke killing his best friend, his brother. Which means sasuke gets mangekyou sharingan. Just my two cents.

@ 809: you better take a closer look to chapter 393, when itachi finally turns off susanoo and goes for sasuke, he says "my eye, my" and the look on his face... it shows that he is obsessed of getting those eyes and i dont think he realized that he is dying and wanted to poke sasukes forehead again... lets come to part two of your theory, if we want to believe that itachi accepted his death and wanted only do flick sasukes head, i doubt that sasuke would get that in this situation and acknowledge itachi as his close friend and furthermore sasuke didnt really kill itachi, he made him become very exhausted, but there was no killing. i think he died of overusing susanoo but thats a speculation and the truth will come in a few chapters. at least i think your theory onekingowns is not going to turn out true

kami sharp i think that sasuke's victory wasnt in the worst state but they fought with all efforts and the result was itachi's death bec he was no longer stronger than sasuke,thus who think that sasuke won bec his brother was good and didnt want to kill him are worng,itachi was a bad person he didnt died with his own will but he died bec he was out of chakra and done all what he can do,also one of the reasons of his death was his blindness thats what made sasuke much stronger than him at the end and there is noway thats what i said is wrong

i dont think itachi is good. it hasnt been any evidence proving that.itachi wantes sasukes eyes so badly that he push himself to far, and it cost him his life. on the other hand sasuke eye was bleeding so that got to mean something.

I'm still having dificulty understanding from what Itachi could have died. Was it over-use of his Mangekyo? Was it the wound he received on his leg? Was it from using Susano? Was it from tuberculosis? He kind of went out with a whimper, if he died at all... Zetsu seems pretty confident Itachi's dead. Can we believe him? According to the spoiler, Tobi doesn't seem that suprised. Did Itachi suck so bad that Tobi knew how it was going to end? Granted, Itachi doesn't have instant transmission like Goku.. I mean Tobi, but the fight seemed fairly close. Sasuke's lying right next to the suposed dead guy as we speak. I'm confused.
