@363p11-13 indeed sasuke summoned manda perhaps appearing as oro (since oro is inside of him) and asked to be inside manda. then by sharingan flew manda into another dimension, but not before being hit by deidara's (f)art is a blast ultimate sacrifice. sasuke pre-instructed suigetsu to use a summon when they would not sense his chakra, and so manda was resummoned with sasuke inside of him. when sasuke came out, manda was surprised that it was not oro but this brat... how dare you (summon me by genjutsu, disguising yourself as oro, or with oro's chakra; and using me as a shield to that fatal blast... i'm f*cked). and the great snake died.

uhmm this tells us that the sharingan indeed uses genjutsu to summon and control the mythical beasts. so this is how madara summons and controls the kyuubi,too? madara says in 363 (sorry not 383) that "the machine has ripened, (sasuke's) mind is ready... sasuke's eyes will surpass itachi's eyes."

ordo< the fact that shodai is able to use darkness may have been of benefit against the sharingan.. kinda like the way zabuza tried to use the mist against kakashi and the mist kakashi himself created while fighting the dud itachi on the way to rescueing gaara

itachi normally uses clones or genjutsu to escape, but sasuke was able to see through it. i think it was the real itachi, but purposely not in his strongest.

@868 but it seems that itachi was purposely not killing sasuke. all the MS techniques are invincible jutsus. he could have killed sasuke easily if he wanted... it is observable that though sasuke was burned by amaterasu it seems that he did not get fatal wounds... and susano'o did not even touch him but just pinned him.. if he really wants to take sasuke's eyes the best move would have been susano'o or kill sasuke and then take his eyes.
