@270 & 271 It's mostly me wanting a pet theory to be true, I admit it. And I know it's useless to speculate (but fun), and I definitely don't feel strongly enough about it to get mad. But lets look at this for a bit. Orochimaru and Itachi were familiar with one another's abilities. So, let's assume Itachi knew that Sasuke had contained Orochimaru within himself. He knew about that regeneration technique. What use are Sasuke's eyes to Itachi without the MS? He did exactly enough damage to Sasuke to force him to repair himself and use his remaining chakra. He might even have wanted to draw out Orochimaru on purpose , but if he did then it looks like Itachi underestimated Orochimaru. This is assuming the reason Itachi is on his back is because of the snake. Who really knows at this point? Mostly though, I just want Itachi to have been making Sasuke strong enough to take on the task of getting rid of the cursed Sharingan once and for all. Even assuming he was in full control of himself when the clan got slaughtered (and assuming he played as big a part in it as it seems. Remember, for a long time we all assumed it was him alone), they could have been mercy killings, a necessary evil to get rid of the curse once and for all. Meh, it's all wishful thinking on my part like I said but I can dream can't I?

I definitely like the idea of Itachi secretly being good and only trying to force Sasuke to become stronger. The only flaw I see in that is how unclear those last two pages were. Itachi may have been giving a loving gesture to his younger brother... But he's also almost blind, if you recall from earlier on in the battle. His vision was very blurred. So he may have just missed simply because he couldn't see. The smile did look warm, not devilish though. I would agree that there is certainly more to Itachi's plan still. He had the opportunity to steal Sasuke's eyes if he really wanted to back when he fought Jiraiya... but he didn't. He's also very fatalistic... and he may figure that if Sasuke can't beat himself, then there's no way he could defeat someone like Madara. Someone also mentioned something about Naruto being weak because he only uses the same moves. But what you lack to see is that he improves on what he knows best. He's more specific and focused on certain moves. That doesn't make him weak. If anything it makes his few moves that much greater than someone else's copious variety of moves.

this fight reminds me of the kenshin vs shishio fight from samurai x, i mean shishio was stronger but he died before he could deliver the final blow to kenshin just like how itachi died before he could rip out sasuke's eyes

ALI i agree you do always hate on sasuke. he used the curse seal twice in this fight and it was what 15 or 16 chapters.and about oro powers, sasuke didnt ask for oro to try and take his body, just like with the curse seal,he didnt ask for that either.sasuke powers were given to him, why not use them. besides with out oro and curse seal,sasuke is still in the top 3 best shinobis.stop hating and be bias sometimes.
